Background

Earle Kluttz Thompson and Raines Thompson Kuppin are sisters-in-law and business partners who have been painting together since 2000. From a young age, both were drawn to art and creative projects and took various classes. Each attended UNC- Chapel Hill, where they met, and had the opportunity to study art abroad at Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy. Earle's experience as a mural painter began during an internship with Michael Brown, an accomplished muralist in Chapel Hill. She helped with various indoor and outdoor murals and enjoyed the work so much that she decided to pursue her own mural painting business. Shortly thereafter, Raines joined Earle and they have been collaborating on a multitude of projects ever since, most notably an ongoing project painting at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Style

Our style leans toward the realistic, as we have spent years painting realistic nature-themed murals in the pediatric units at UNC Hospitals. However we are generally able to adapt to the needs and wishes of our clients and enjoy working on abstract, graphic and more impressionistic/whimsical murals as well.

Inspiration

Our greatest inspiration is the smiles and gratitude that we receive from patients, staff and parents at UNC Hospitals. To have the opportunity and ability to transform sterile hospital walls into cheerful works of art is a gratifying dream job for us both. We really enjoy the creative, hands-on nature of our work and draw inspiration from a wide variety of sources - nature, photographs, wallpaper, fabric, museums, magazines, books, other artists' work ... the sources of creative inspiration are endless!
